How to tamp correctly:
Uniformity in both the distribution and pressing of ground coffee are essential to achieve a balanced coffee.
Tamping is a technique that at first glance seems simple but requires attention:
1. Distribute: level the coffee using a distributor or by gently tapping the portafilter.
2. Position: place the base of the portafilter on your mat.
3. Press: apply firm, straight pressure, avoiding uneven compaction of the coffee.
